“People are like cities: We all have alleys and gardens and secret rooftops and places where daisies sprout between the sidewalk cracks, but most of the time all we let each other see is is a postcard glimpse of a skyline or a polished square. Love lets you find those hidden places in another person. Even the ones they didn’t know were there, even the ones they wouldn’t have thought to call beautiful themselves.”
― HILARY T. SMITH
Stillness in New York City is rare. When time is suspended and people can be alone with the treasures of the city? This gift is bestowed to those who wake earlier than than sunrise. Waking at 3:30 AM to be ready to go at 4:45 AM for an anniversary session means my husband and I got the gift of unattended doorways near the entrance of Central Park and lone pathways, which was so incredible that I wanted to post a few photos of this rare time before diving into Sindy and Angelo’s breathtaking anniversary session. These two lovebirds have an incredible story: They meet through mutual friends in Italy while at the airport. (That’s a Nora Ephron screenplay right there.) Sindy lived in Italy when she was younger and came back to visit friends and Angelo was coming to pick up a friend. They saw each other amongst the travelers and came to discover their connection. The world is truly a stage for people to meet their soulmate. These two embarked on a creative journey as photographers and videographers themselves and they desired the opportunity to circle back to the place where Angelo asked for Sindy’s hand in marriage and to walk hand-in-hand in life. Their New York City anniversary session was also a chance to revisit their classic Rockefeller Plaza proposal and also return to a favorite landmark, Brooklyn Bridge, for that classic Brooklyn Bridge wedding photo. But first, we had a portrait session in Central Park at Bow Bridge as well as the Top of the Rock with a little stop for a kiss next to a NYC cab! There’s so much to discover in this city and what better way to do it than with two people who are in love like Sindy and Angelo?
Sindy & Angelo, thank you for entrusting us to create these beautiful images for you and sharing your New York love story with us! Charles and I enjoyed our time photographing your connection with each other and also adventuring through crazy, wonderful, and epic landscape that is Manhattan with the two of you! It’s a true honor to have other creatives ask us to photograph them, so we loved this day and are so grateful for you both. With much love and appreciation, -Celia & Charles.
