“You are the road of love and my home.”
Anniversary photography sessions exude a quiet romance, and capturing the beginning of a marriage is honor — whether it’s on the first day or the 365th day. Lauren and Grant’s one-year anniversary session was transcendent in the early morning light in Philadelphia’s Old City and cozy during their relaxed at-home session. Lauren’s flawless style (if you aren’t following her Instagram you must ASAP and check out her site, Trousseau Style, for tips and style inspiration) stole the show as she and Grant perfectly embodied effortlessness… or, as I like to say, #couplegoals.
The first part of their session was a homage to their love of Philadelphia. After a stunning destination wedding in Oregon, their Philadelphia love story was next on the list for this striking couple — and they deserved nothing less than a perfect morning with the golden hue of summer shining for their anniversary session.
The inspiration for this anniversary session was to tell their “Philadelphia Love Story” in the morning followed by at-home photos with Lauren and Grant reading “Message in a Bottle” advice notes from their friends and family who attended their wedding. These notes were sweet, sentimental, funny, and filled with love, which was the perfect way to kick off their anniversary celebrations. In addition to eating cake, of course.
A first-year anniversary tradition is to eat a piece of the wedding cake but with a cross-country flight from Oregon, it wasn’t feasible. Thankfully there was another option: Nutmeg Cake Designs. A Philadelphia staple in the sweetness industry, Nutmeg Cake provided a carrot cake (Grant’s favorite) that was out of this world. And what better to go with carrot cake than a rosé, which was another little gift to the couple to celebrate their first year as husband and wife.
Lauren & Grant, a thousand thanks for sharing your wedding day memories with us and showing us your favorite spots in Philadelphia. We loved hanging with you and, yes, you guys truly are #couplegoals! – Celia & Charles
As seen on Style Me Pretty Mid-Atlantic Blog: “The Cutest Idea for an At-Home 1-Year Anniversary Shoot“That summer light… Trying to soak it all in before autumn! And so thankful for Mastin Labs and their wonderful film-inspired colors.
A sweet moment with Lauren & Grant in front of the landmark Merchant Bank — they did a waltz for their wedding dance! So impressed!Lauren, ever the professional stylist even during her own photoshoot, shows us the proper cuff fold for just the right nonchalant-ness. (Is that a word? It should be!)
Her “millennial pink” dress flowed perfectly amongst the columns at the First Bank of the United States. As always, it wouldn’t be a Philadelphia love story without a stunner of a ring by L. Priori Jewelry. (Ms. Priori was recently voted Best of Philly 2017 by Philadelphia Magazine for estate jewelry!) These two looking like they should be on a Hollywood movie poster… And a little shout-out to the cobblestone streets in Philly for making every photographer oh-so-happy.Their at-home anniversary session was simply perfect. Lauren & Grant’s apartment is not only catalog and Pinterest worthy for sure, but also homey and comfortable… So comfortable that I’m not sure how any houseguest can bring themselves to leave!Nutmeg Cake for the win! Love this amazing little cake stand from Target, too.
“Message in a Bottle” — with some cake and rose in a bottle. That’s the perfect first anniversary combination if I ever heard of one.Lauren has the most amazing wall decor I’ve every seen. Vintage bottles with fresh-cut flowers from Petit Jardin en Ville for the win!#couplegoals, right? Cheers to Lauren and Grant! May your second year (and third, and fourth, and beyond…) be even more filled with love and laughter!
